At fourteen years old, Miles No-Ship has quite a lot going for him, all things considered. He's an orphan, true, and while he technically doesn't have a ship (or a family...or friends), he does have his very own room. So there's that.
One thing that is doing well for him, though, is his job: Miles is a Roamer, a person who gets hired by really rich people to travel the galaxy and find all the strange, mysterious things they like to collect and keep in a room somewhere, and while most people would call them thieves, he and his partner, Vexemius, like to think of themselves as liberators.
It's actually a pretty good gig. That is, until this latest job.
Suddenly, Miles realizes that their latest quarry isn't at all what he anticipated. He finds himself being hunted by a mysterious bounty hunter known only as The Spade and plagued by dreams of an unknown planet. Also, if that wasn't enough, it turns out that the thing he was hired to steal is part of the Infernal Machine, an ancient mythological artifact that is fabled to have the power to destroy the universe.
Oh, and sometimes he sees things that aren't really there. It used to worry him, but now he tries not to think about it too much.
In the epic conclusion to the Devil's Deal series, Freya has one final chance to discover the full potential of her own power, and to use it to restore balance in the universe - once and for all. After the destruction caused by Roisin, Ferya and Torix come to terms with their losses and mistakes... And prepare for a final battle that will change everything.
