" This book was the BEST Historical Fiction I have ever read. The novel is another solid young adult, dystopian effort. It has plenty of positives, including a high-tension plot. It was like the Hunger games meets Pretty Little Liars meets the red queen trilogy."

Living in the Romallian Empire was not an easy thing under the watchful eye of its tyrant ruler Emperor Maximus, especially while the man is at war with his brother's newly formed Empire of Galacia. Their family feud is out of hand; villages are being burnt or are under siege, women and children are sold for profit, and men are killed if they refuse to pick a side and fight. Nevertheless, Candra has found a way to make her life even more difficult. As the daughter of Romallia's most notorious traitor and the exiled bride of the heir to the throne, she stumbles through life in the shadows in hopes of one day leading a peaceful existence. But fate is anything but kind. Galacian's attack the town she is staying in and take her twin brother prisoner. To save the only family she has left, she has to travel into enemy territory and fight... even if it kills her. But her reputation makes her the most identifiable girl in the Empire, so she does what any sane person would do: she disguises herself as a boy. On her journey for revenge and redemption, she is forced into the life of a gladiator. If Candra is ever going to save her brother, she must distinguish her friends from her enemies before she dies in the red sands of the arena. This is the first novel in a trilogy that outlines Candra's rise to power. The people need to know the truth behind this historical war that changed the face of their Empire. ~*~*~*~ Top Rankings: Monarchy #1 Gladiator #2 Genderbender #3
