Elvira Beck is one of few half-bloods in the Fae territory: half-human, half-Fae. They are the rarest type of half-blood, with purebred Faes dominating the populace. For her, magic doesn't come easily. Walking, running, dancing, and jumping do come easily.

Despite all this, she cannot stop her curiosity about a particular piece of Faeish history. As she learns more about this piece of history, she finds herself pulled into a high stakes game of life and death. If she cannot control its magic, and her own, her entire species could die. It doesn't help that she's distracted by a sudden visit by her estranged father and that she has a boyfriend vying for her attention.
