Tammie Harain is a 17 year old black girl from a middle class family. But when her parents kick her out when she gets raped by her older cousin, she goes to live with her bestfriend, Deon. Deon lives with her big brother Leon, who is the biggest kingpin in Houstin. Deon and Leon are white, but were raised by a black women in the hood. Their mother and father were killed in a car accident caused by a drug dealer named, Shanks. Leon and Tammie don't get along at first, but soon they develop feelings for each other.
