Lacuna

Lacuna: (noun) an unfilled space or interval; a gap.

There is a lacuna in every werewolf's heart until they meet their mate, for a werewolf's mate is their other half. This doesn't mean that every werewolf wants their mate. Kade, the newly appointed alpha of the Luneste Pack, believes he can run his pack just fine without his mate. That he doesn't need the distraction or the weakness.
