Blake lives in a society which believes when you come of age you cast the negative aspects of yourself into your Shadow. So the youth of the population grow up in tunnels of a mountain where there are no Shadows to tempt them with "evil". When her eighteenth birthday arrives it is time for Blake to get out into the real world, until Blake's Sewing Ceremony goes wrong and she finds herself running for her life. Is Blake the darkness they talk about in the legends? Fighting to learn the truth, Blake must make the decision on who to trust, but how can she when the only people to show her kindness are urging for the revenge on a city Blake still feels is home?

*Please note this is a working project so I am treating what I post as a first draft. Editing comments are welcome, but please bare in mind I am aware there may be parts that are not so well written as I plan to come back to them :) *

Are demons after Blake or is he mad? Into the Light is a story of perception, zealotry, and social rebellion with a malignant version of Jiminy Cricket chirping opinions into the mind. It is an experimental novel. May I introduce you to the Will, the collective unconscious and Jiminy Cricket of the internet age. The Will wishes to bring you Into the Light. Though this story is about all of humanity, and the roots of our dysfunction, the Will found it more effective to compose a single novel to convey its message. This far easier than speaking to each person individually. Plus, they might think they were going mad instead of reading fiction, which is almost the same. So, a story within the story. The person, or should I say character, the Will chose to manipulate for this purpose is Blake Moxley. Poor Blake, such a nice chap, was thrust into a world of a confusion after he began to see people become ghoulish creatures and sought answers, as one does during such situations, and found them in an ex-priest, or so he claimed, nicknamed Stiggy. Blake was told of mystical beings who controlled civilization from hidden seats of power; however, he was one of the few who could see their true grotesque faces. Being a concerned citizen, he set off on a crusade across the United States to expose the dastardly evil. Sure, it led to ruination as he confronted the beings who manipulated Business, Politics and Media, but in the end, he finds salvation. Well, sort of.
