I wrote this piece for a speech to give in CLT (Communication Leadership Training 2016) entitled as "You are Amazing."
Well, of course, i wasn't successful enough to feel proud; stage freight, mind blocked, over thinking, & not confident. I wanted to give up, turn around and run but no, my body didn't allow me to but my heart told me to........keep going & relax.
I cried for hours, seeing people who wished me 'good luck.'
But it was the opposite when most of them told me, "You did great", " You tried", "you were awesome out there, since it is your first time", " Great courage", "That is why you are here to keep going"..... I didn't know how to feel or what to do.
I felt ashamed since my friend, a shy type of person, a first-timer too, got in second place. I wish I was proud of myself like I was proud of him.
