Kevin is not your average 17 year old boy. He and his little brother Pete live the most extraordinary life, with equally extraordinary (and clumsy) dragons that have been watching over them since the day their parents died in a fatal car crash for six years in the depths of the forest. And nobody knows about them, which is just fine in their opinion. Unfortunately, some secrets are just too big to keep, and when lumberjacks disturb their quiet life in the woods, the boys are unable to disappear like their big green guardians, who, if they don't get back to in time, will risk being found as well. The race to get home brings unexpected blessings: a family for Pete in Grace and Jack, and a friend for Kevin in Ayodele, a seventeen year old girl whose history may be more entwined with his than they thought possible. Their bond grows closer, as does Pete with Grace, but they are torn by a choice: a life with them, or the only life they've ever known with their dragons?
