"Oh, well, he always made a fool of himself whenever Lily was around," said Sirius, shrugging. "He couldn't stop himself showing off whenever he got near her."
"How come she married him?" Harry asked miserably. "She hated him!"
"Nah, she didn't," said Sirius.
"She started going out with him in seventh year," said Lupin.
"Once James had deflated his head a bit," said Sirius.

Lily Evans is basically the girl everyone wants to be. Everyone knows her, everyone likes her, especially one boy called James Potter, flirt, troublemaker, arrogance extraordinaire.

But maybe James likes her a little more than he'd like to admit. Maybe. Just maybe.

Maybe he likes her a lot more than he lets people think.

"Oh Lily, you really are amazing, you know that?" Lily sighed, same old James he was probably going to ask her out again in 3... 2... 1.... and... Nothing. Huh, she thought to herself, maybe he really has changed. James looked back at Lily and grinned, she quickly looked away and his face fell. I need to get her out of my head, he thought, she doesn't like me anymore, end of. No point in going after a girl who hates you anymore, who knows how much time we all have left. The door opened, and they both looked up. Prefects started filling the room, ready to start the new school year. Lily smiled professionally and James mimicked her, greeting and congratulating the other students. Before Lily started to speak, she took a last glance at James. He smiled slightly, his small dimples made him look so innocent and adorable. She breathed in and looked down at the paper in front of her, one thought protruding out from the rest, I will not fall in love with James Potter. --- In their final year at Hogwarts, Voldemort is on the rise, luckily though, Hogwarts is still safe... mostly. James and Lily are finally civil but Lily finds herself feeling something more that she can't keep denying. There could be more to all these friendships, but with the stress of NEWTS and a potential war on the horizon, will love blossom, or is it too dangerous to keep loved ones close? "So we're alone," he said slowly. "That's a thoughtful observation," she whispered. She could feel her fingertips tremble slightly as they clasped around his hair. She didn't know why she suddenly felt so nervous. She moved her hands and allowed her fingers to trail slowly and gently down the side of his face and he involuntarily shivered at her touch. Eventually her fingers landed on his lips and she traced across them softly. They parted slightly and she could hear and feel him let out what she assumed to be an unintentional breath. He moved inwards, his lips pulling from her fingertips to hover near her ear. "I'm a thoughtful person." * After getting accepted into the Healer training program and moving to London, Marlene begins her life outside of Hogwarts. Despite the looming dangers of war, she has a pretty decent life; she has friends who care about her, a boyfriend who loves her, and the determination to keep fighting for a life worth living. But it doesn't take long for Marlene to begin questioning her choices. As the world is falling apart around her, so are her relationships and any certainty that she once had. Except for Sirius; the only certainty she has left in the world. However, war only seems to be threatening to tear them apart. She can't quite put her finger on what has started changing, but something certainly has, and love may not be enough to get her through it this time. It is only a matter of time before Marlene must make the most important choice of all; join the war or fall apart.

If there was anyone Eleanor hated most in the world, it was James Potter. So, now she's wondering how the hell she ended up dating him. --- ELEANOR BRIGGET was a force to be reckoned with. Powerful, pretty, and with a personality that could set off firecrackers, everyone she'd ever met could say she had left them with something to be remembered. She was the type of person who you looked for in a crowd; someone who was always surrounded by tons of people, and a girl who got along with just about everyone... Except for one person. James bloody Potter. After an incident on their first train to Hogwarts that spiraled out of control, Eleanor swore that she would hate the boy forever and that sentiment only grew stronger when he started harassing her best friend, Lily Evans, for a date. But, when the start of their sixth-year crescents on the horizon and Lily rejects James for the last time, he goes to Eleanor, desperate and with the craziest plan of his life: fake dating. With a future darkened by war, mysterious, magical entities forcing their way into her dreams, and an arrogant, messy-haired boy whom she is starting to love, Eleanor will have to choose what she truly wants and decide how much she is willing to give up. And James will have to decide which is more important: the girl of his dreams or the girl who he has already fallen for. At long last, this is the story of how two people, who once thought of the other as the scum of the earth, began living for the light they saw in each other, even when that light burned too bright. This is the story of how a woman fell in love with a man forever promised to her best friend. This is a story of a silly, little girl who wanted nothing more than to chase the light. Who wanted nothing more than the one and only James Potter. -------------------------------------------- [prelude to golden] [marauders' era]

"Things are really great they way they are at the moment, and I don't want to do anything to mess it up," Severus said slowly. He kept his head steady, eyes fixed out at a star low on the horizon. Severus refused to look at James. He needed to get this off his chest and it would be impossible to do so if that penetrating gaze was fixated on him. He'd only recognised his new feelings for what they were about a week ago; an infatuation. He never considered the possibility that he could be attracted to men, but it seems like James might be the exception. Or maybe, he was the rule. It was still too soon for Severus to tell. "But sometimes, a thing just feels so right, you know?" Severus finished. James didn't say anything. They both just kept looking straight out across the Great Lake. OR After Severus Snape and James Potter find themselves stuck in an awkward detention together, an unlikely friendship forms. As their newfound friendship develops, James discovers something new about himself while Severus tries to fight his growing attraction to the Gryffindor boy.
