Have you ever dreamed of a magical place? Where people are not what they seem? Lizards walk on two legs and even wear clothing? Cats talk? And Dogs run baking shops? What about Birds who give fighting lessons? Have you ever seen a miniature elephant that could fit into your hand? Trains that could take you all over the world without ever been seen? What about spells that would chill your very core? Laurel, a 24 year old office worker in london, england has had a reoccurring dream that has happened ever since she left Japan with her Fiance Matthew. A world that continues to try to suck her back in again. One that she has not seen for five years. One that she escaped from when she had been taken as a child. One that would leave her dead in the streets if she wasn't careful. The Veil was a dangerous place, full of magical things that would sooner eat you then look at you twice. Or perhaps they would take your soul as the price of a service. Join Laurel as she's thrown back into the chaotic yet magical realm of The Veil where she will reunite with old comrades and perhaps even rekindle a lost love or two.

What if all the myths are real? Monsters, witches, faeries. Well NEWSFLASH! They are. And I've been thrown into the deep end. Before I was a normal girl, well as normal as any 17-year-old can be, but after moving in with my Grandmother everything started to change. She wasn't as crazy as everyone made her out to be. The friends I made in school were different than the others and I fit right in. Even weirder, the elusive handsome stranger I have been dreaming about for the past 2 years is here, and he recognises me too. I just hope that the dreams that plague me don't come true. Otherwise, things won't end well for any of us.
