The Underground was no stranger to humans. Six humans, all children of varying ages, have fallen down, and have perished. 
    
    Those unfortunate souls were either too naïve or did not understand that every action has consequences. Some were overconfident. Some...were never taught the concept of right and wrong.
     
    One day, however, a human adult, through unfortunate circumstances, also found herself in the Underground. She has far more life experience than any of her predecessors, and as a result, is far more cautious. She too, however, can be somewhat naïve and idealistic, but knows when it's time to call it quits and live to fight another day.
    
    She forms unlikely friendships, from two lovable skeletons...to an ambitious ghost turned robot and an awkward scientist...even a young human girl with enough determination to save two worlds.
    
    When she finds herself falling for one of her friends, she starts to question what she truly wants. Does she really want to leave the Underground or is she willing to stay behind with the one she loves and wait for someone better suited for the job of liberation?
    
    Better yet, will she and her friends even make it out alive?

Sans the skeleton is a resident of Snowdin in the Underground, and life as he knows is mostly alright. He had his optimistic, egotistical brother, Papyrus, his mysterious friend in the RUINs, Grillby, the bartender at his favorite place to stay, and many other buddies and acquaintances he'd made over time. But one day, when the friend from the RUINs makes a strange request of Sans, he couldn't help but give her his word and make a promise. However... When he sees the subject of his promise exit the RUINs- A strange, wayward, dust-covered human- Sans questioned whether he'd be able to stay true to his word. (Feel free to leave suggestions for other stories you'd like me to write in the comments! None of the art featured here is mine.) UPDATE: Uh, so, my headcanons have changed quite a bit from when I wrote this, including Sans' attitude at some points, the Mettaton NEO situation, the Alphys evacuation, and other things. Everyone he knew was dead. Alphys' story was a similar one. When the Underground was saved, she didn't see it that way. The Underground had lost it's spark when Mettaton fell, and she had lost hers when Undyne did. In the end, it was the two weakest monsters in the Underground who were left for each other.
