Since the loss of her best friend, Lily Evans had been mourning. Mourning not just for that loss, but because she'd lost sight of who she was and who she wanted to be in that process. No one seemed to notice how off she was- no one, that is, except for James Potter. Lily Evans's New Year's Resolution was to find herself again.

Words were constantly whispered about Marlene McKinnon, some good and some bad. She tried not to let them bother her- they were just words. Sticks and stones. Yet to a certain amount, she knew they had the power to make her snap. More than anything, she knew the way she acted made people distrust her. She wanted desperately to be a more trustworthy person, and felt the only other person who could understand some semblance of her was Sirius Black.
