"Looks like opposites attract huh?" "What do you mean?" He chuckled, taking a swig of beer."I mean that I'm more of a country guy and you're a rock n roll girl."he said,I blushed."that doesn't meant that I couldn't at least try to listen to country music."i said,he chuckled again.I blushed in embarrassment this time,"I-I'm serious Chris."i said.he looked at me,throughout this whole conversation I hadn't once said his name.we both didn't say anything,we just stared at each other. ------------------------- Alana Valance has the job every girl wished they had:being a personal assistant for the Foo Fighters.when she first started working for them she was afraid she'd mess up,but as it turns out she's now practically friends with each member(and their wives).the only person she hasn't bonded with was Chris Shiflett, which made her feel bad.she wanted to bond with Shifty, but there was one teeny tiny little problem:she has a crush on him,and he's older then her.Alana is only 26 years old while Chris is 42 years old,he's also recently divorced his wife Cara. Between occasionally having his kids over for the week and touring with the guys,Chris is fucking exhausted.and it doesn't help that the guys constantly want to "help him" and encourage him to try to have some fun,he wants to be alone.one day,he's the only one in the studio.while he waits for the rest of the band,Alana stumbles in and nearly drops the drinks each member requested.Chris comes to the rescue and grabs them before they could spill to the floor,Alana and Chris lock eyes and immediately feel a spark.but will this spark have consequences?and will it ruin Alana and Chris' relationship with the band? September, 1998. It's a possibility that Los Angeles will kill Dave Grohl. Not only are the Foo Fighters without a record label, they're also down two band members, and so far one half of 1998 is a blur from being drunk at flashy parties and concerts every night, and the other half is miserable from a daunting bout of writer's block threatening to end Dave's career. With nothing left to lose, he gathers Taylor Hawkins and Nate Mendel and does the unthinkable: he moves back to Virginia and buys a house to build a studio in. Meanwhile in quiet, dull Virginia, Landry Clarke is stuck. The band she plays bass for is failing, and the woman on lead vocals is nothing short of evil. Her parents don't speak to her. Her childhood best friend is grappling with addiction and could die at any moment. A gifted songwriter, she's afraid to share her lyrics with the people that matter. Everything is made more complicated for Landry when she meets Dave Grohl, and everything is made more complicated for Dave when he meets Landry Clarke. Two people who have nothing left to lose, a musician and a songwriter, a man and a woman. And, well, they both really should've known what happened next.
