Opposites attract. Right? Love stories claim that there is no truer phrase. That there is nothing more romantic than two people discovering each other, realizing they don't hate each other as much as they thought they did. Real life shows that it is a little more complicated than they want us to believe and to be cautious. The apocalypse is real, has been for a long time now, and life will never be the same. Phil is afraid, afraid of losing his one tie to this world that despite it all keeps him going with the desire to keep them both alive, with a love he can't admit. Dan is worn down but determined, not willing to give in despite the overwhelming circumstance. He'd sooner die than lose Phil to anything. They look out for each other, separation is out of the question.
