At the age of sixteen, the female werewolves would be come someone's mate. That doesn't mean, however that they will become mated at sixteen.
In the northern most tribe in the United States, gender matter. Males can mate females, females can mate females, and males can mate males.
Aubrey White has just become the first female alpha of her pack. Her first job is to find her mate and complete the mating ceremony within a year; otherwise her position as alpha will be revoked.
The person who turns out to be Aubrey's mate is a shock to her and every member of her pack.
