Aunt Mable has not been seen in the village of Cythry for seventy years. Nobody alive has ever met her. Then, on the day after the war begins, she comes shuffling out of the fog and turns life upside down. For Arthur and his brothers she is a nightmare and they must get rid of her at all costs. They soon discover, however, that ridding themselves of Aunt Mable is not going to be an easy task for she is determined to stay for the entirety of the war.
