In a world where light is reigning over the shadows, what happens when the shadows start to... Fight back? Sal'mia is a young light dancer, a breed of elf that is very similar to humans. Of course, they have no clue what humans are. She live's on her father's farm with him and her seriously ill younger brother. Her father, Tha'an, breed's a type of reptilian called Hedera Beastiea. They are huge, aerodynamic, and deadly. The farm is tended to by 'dirt eaters', slaves of the light dancers for many generations... Or, whatever's left of their species anyway. The species true name is Night crawler's, and there was a war between them and the light dancer's generations prior. At first it was believed they had entirely been wiped out, but it was later discovered that survivors still lingered in the deepest cavern system on Demarai, the Shindalai fissure. Little to no light is filtered through the volcanic rock, just how the night crawlers like it. Now you see, the Light dancer's just could not have that. Every last night crawler was dragged from the caverns, children and all, and they were made to work as slaves. Night crawler's are a grotesque species, with long and almost... Badger-like claw's on their hand's. Sal'mia had always been the only one in her household to treat the 'dirt eaters' with even a shred fo respect. But on one fateful day, as single Night crawler sentinel stood above the others and struck Tha'an, Sal'mia's father. And then he fled, taking one of the Hedera and flying off whilst Tha'an cowered on the ground where he lay. But before the night crawler took off into the sky he left with...Complicated parting word's. "Or so you all think..." And that's what sent Sal'mia out on her journey through the most dangerous part's of Demarai in search of him- But little did she know, she was not the only one in search of someone... And the encounter would cause, to say the very least, tragedy.

Lotticia Andrews had spent her entire life behind the walls of her library. Her father raised her to be selfish, and to fear the outside, and even after his death- she never left. She and her border collie had remained- until their food ran out. Lotticia wasn't a fighter, she only ever knew how to use knives- a knife her father had taught her how to use. A knife, a dog, a journal, and anxiety are all her father left her with. And books- hundreds of books. Then a Warrior general stomps his way into her life- trampling her solitary and lonely life. He's loud and obnoxious, imposing- but there seemed more beneath his hard exterior. His personality was a weapon he wore like his armor. General Christoph was a harsh leader compared to his predecessor Zelle. The warrior who trained him and chose him to continue in his footsteps after his death. He was bitter and cynical- and didn't intend to take another woman after his mate had died all those years ago. But things don't always go according to plan- he never meant to stumble upon a small female, nor her furry big-eyed dog. Christoph needed this human, for her knowledge and the language she could help them to understand her hand language. A small group, a one-day trip- that was all it was supposed to be. But then no one expected poachers, Another human female, or the natural cycle and what it could do to the human body. Christoph had completely underestimated the trip. Now war has broken out and tensions rise- both buried feelings and skeletons come falling out of the closet. Can this spunky smart girl survive the Palace's wrath? Can Christoph face the reality that things aren't always what they seem nor black and white? Will Lassie play her part- and find her way home? Who knows- maybe humanity was doomed on Earth- but that won't be Lottie or her dog- because she's willing to do whatever it takes to get moved up to the front of the list. Even if it means dealing with the palace, poachers, and skrill alike.
