The Lights was inspired by two events this summer: my trip to the beautiful country of Iceland, and Gord Downie's (frontman of The Tragically Hip) very public battle with brain cancer. I dedicate this story to all cancer survivors, and to all those battling the disease.

Just a heads up there are mentions of public shootings, self-harm, and an attempt to end one's own life so read at your own discretion. I would like to also clarify that I'm not trying to romanticize or glorify these topics for the sake of an of interesting story the harm and ending it all is how I feel sometimes and writing it out helps me to not do it to my self.
