Amelia Hemingway knows the life isn't a breeze. With divorced parents, a new step-family, and a schedule that doesn't allow her or her real brothers to see their mother, she understands.
Living with her new "family" and having to go to a different school so her step siblings won't have to, her high school career is off to a rough start, to say the least. When she meets a guy through it all, it seems unreal to her.
Yes, she's a thirteen year old freshman, the youngest in her class, but she isn't dumb, nor untalented. Does Amelia, however, realize this? Or is she so unsure that she thinks she's stupid, and not good enough for anyone?
Her father and step-mother are no help in her struggle, being unsupportive and mentally abusive towards her.
She knows, though, that her story isn't any better than others, and is grateful for the family that does care about her and the people that are trying to get her to believe in herself.
No person has no problems or dilemmas during their adventures. After all, it is The Journey Called Life.
Geoff and Naomi are dead, and they're depressed, but when Geoff's cat Bernie dies as well, they embark on a wild journey to find it in the underworld.
*****
When Geoff dies, alongside his girlfriend Naomi, they end up sharing an apartment in the Underworld as skeletons. But after a few years, Geoff starts suffering a mid-death crisis. What's the purpose of going through the motions as a skeleton if you can't really live? Then he gets word that his cat, Bernie, just died and he can collect him and bring him home! Geoff and Naomi hurry to get Bernie only to discover that, due to a clerical error, their cat has been lost. With the hunt for Bernie giving new purpose to Geoff's un-life, he and Naomi begin a quest to get back their cat. Battling skeleton pirates, climbing the sky ladder and facing off against the villain who took Bernie, Geoff is determined to find his purpose - or die a second time trying!
