"This girl was different than the rest of my other oddball discoveries. She should have never been not noticed. She shined so brightly I was surprised no one was covering their eyes. How could I be the only one to notice that the way she laughed made the grass try to join in, or that the mud she painted on my face formed itself in artful knots and streaks, just like the bark of a tree? The earth softened when she set her bare feet down upon it, and the sunsets brightened for her to paint them. Being this lovesick was tiring, but I didn't know I was in love so I didn't know why I was so tired."
