What if magic were real, and humans were a myth? Al Ardito, the son of an infamous family of gangsters, and his brat of a younger sister, Sophie, find themselves dragged into a strange world by an incompetent gnomish wizard. In this world humans were once worshipped as gods, but those religions have been dying off as new technologies and ideas arise. Now everything will be thrown on its head as two bonafide humans--who want nothing more than to go back home--pop up out of thin air.

Malus

Perry Arval isn't what anyone would call unskilled. After all, he's a magician. He can manipulate arts most could never dream of, like going from his home in Ireland to the other side of the world in seconds. But it's never been enough. The only thing he's interested in is summoning, but, thanks to his halfling spirit, he can't do it without risking possession. Not that the strict law that keeps people like him away from sorcery stopped him from pursuing it anyway. With a fire demon fused to his soul and a red flag sticking out of his uniquely strong spirit, things take a turn for the worse-namely when a dark and powerful demon slips into his life. Now that this angry spirit has a hold on him and a target painted on the society of magicians he calls home, everyone he knows is in danger. When his father goes missing, Perry must seek the aid of someone he never even knew existed: his twin sister. Together for the first time in sixteen years, Perry and his sister Bronte are thrown into an adventure that spans from New York City to the brink of the demon realm in order to save their parents and put an end to a thousand-year-old vendetta.
