Caden Henson was just a normal teenage boy. He went to high school, had friends, and enjoyed his life. But on the night his dad died in a car accident, all the good left Caden. He broke. His dad had been his best friend and now he was gone. He began to sneak out every night and go to clubs or parties.

His mother began to worry, and said he needed a friend. Caden didn't believe it was true. But one day, Caden's mother dragged him to a foster care unit where they met a little girl named Zoey.

Zoey was an optimist. Even though her mother and her brother had died and her father was now in rehab, she still maintained a positive outlook on life. When she's taken in by the Hensons, she's absolutely extatic to have a family again. She thinks all of the bad things are in the past.

What she doesn't know is that she's wrong.
