Lionora and Emelia Elspeth are genetically modified humans, the first functional product of a series of mostly unsuccessful trials and experiments: the next step in the 'evolution' of humans dubbed 'Homo sapiens, novus gloria'. With hightened senses, reflexes and memory, they are considered perfect human beings, all for one fault: for all of their years of life, neither has ever experienced social emotions, such as friendship, love, or rivalry. The two live atop the highest building in New Helios, a bustling city on the edge of a technological revolution where nobody ever sleeps and popularity is a tangible and desirable thing.
The pair's perfect, sheltered life comes crumbling down when a certain mysterious person visits them one night, and the rose tinted bubble is shattered.
