Record-breaking superstar, Dakota Shane, stands center stage at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Oregon, the night six bullets ring out through the stadium. People panic. People run. And people die. Lives change.

This is their story: the learning-disabled kid from East St. Louis trying to grapple with his mother and sister having become collateral damage in a drive-by; the quick-witted black man finding himself duct-taped to a chair, hostage to a meth-addled lunatic wanted for a double homicide; the Latino son desperately struggling to rise above his abusive father; the slash-punk singer managing to score her band their best gig ever, only to find they may not stay together long enough to play it; the transplanted ex-LAPD detective finally facing the ghosts from his past; the bitter ex-wife of a DJ still secretly listening to his midnight radio show while drinking herself into a whiskey coma; the out of control daughter having unprotected sex with strangers hoping that pregnancy might draw the attention of parents unable to see past themselves...

And Dakota Shane: chart-topping megastar with a terrible secret, caught in a media frenzy of rumor, speculation, and lies. She's off her meds, searching for any semblance of herself still existing inside of an identity forged by an extremely successful record company's marketing department.

Each of these lives is a story and each story collides with the others like balls bouncing off pinball bumpers.

In the end, The Rose Garden Arena Incident is a tale about passion, about bravery, about redemption, about fixing those things in the world that are fixable and learning to live with the things that are not-A heartbreaking story of tragedy, despair, and loss that still somehow leaves you with a glimmer of faith, love, and hope.

A "serial thriller," the story will take place over seven separate books.

Her mother said nothing, she simply sat there as her only daughter stood across from her, on the verge of collapsing from bruised ribs and cracked shins. "Mom." She wanted to reach out, softly tap her aging mother. Though that was the restriction of her life. The binding stereotype that she was gentle and slow to anger. In reality, what wanted to explode from her ribs was a scream of an animal, and the tears of repressed rage and fear. She wanted to throw her body onto the floor, but the thought made her damaged body ache more. There was no response from her mother. The deafening silence reminded her of her own quietness as her husband shouted at her, his fists bloody. He told her that she was only a tool for his amusement and a money-whore for her indigent family. She was nothing else but a tool for both parties. And she was starting to believe him. --------------------- Sarah Johnsen's life spirals from the normal gritty resilient fight to a serene wonderland. A bullet ripped through the passenger seat above her head as she screamed again, flattening her body lower to the floor. Carlos grunted at the impact as Florida realized with sudden dread that he was shot. Suddenly, both girls' screams were swallowed up by a tremendous explosion behind them as Florida witnessed a partial view of a white vehicle door flying right past Eileen's window. "Shit!" I muttered under my breath. He pulled open the door and headed for me with a smile that made my skin crawl. I withdrew my gun from my bag and hid it under the table. "Ah Blake Reid. At last we meet!" He pulled out the chair directly across from me. "Who are you and why have you been following me?" I growled. "I'm the man who is going to kill you," he gave me a masochistic smile. I withdrew my gun from its place under the table. It was pointed between his eyes and I took pleasure in the shock that was on his face. He had only gotten his gun halfway out. The staff was still unaware of me holding a gun to this man's head because they were all around back in the kitchen. "Sorry, but that's just not going to happen," I said sweetly. "In such a public place? How brazen of you," he challenged in a shaky voice. "Yes, all the staff is in the back where they can't see us. Oh and if you didn't notice, there's a silencer on my gun. Say good-bye my dearie," I pulled the trigger and sent the bullet through his head. Blake Reid isn't your normal 17 year old. She's an assassin on her last case... or so she hopes. She is having difficulty with memories of her past and can't seem to get out of her shell, even though that is one of the biggest assets needed for her assignment. She will also face many obsticales; some of which she may not survive. Join her in the choas and death she calls her life. (Cover created by Vico96, an amazing friend of mine. Check him out!)

~some things you just can't speak about.~ // hazel eloise finley's old english and frankly quite pretentious name was never released to public whenever she survived the shooting at her high school. not even after the paramedics took her away with a severe bullet wound to the calf or even whenever she drug and hopped herself outside for medical attention afterwards either. only known as the jane doe that survived a school shooting, and the years of physical therapy, permanent nerve damage and chronic pain proved to be the least of her worries. it took years of therapy, hospitalizations, and prescriptions for her to even feel ready to start college after high school. and whenever she did, much like her name, she was determined to bury it. despite the trauma she went on to become one of the most gifted music majors enrolled at the prestigious university in Nashville, TN, an honors student, a residential advisor, and slowly making her way to the student council someday. Though just coming into her sophomore year, a heavily tattooed literature major transfers into the room across from hers that throws everything off track. Julien Rose Baker infuriated her at first, not only because her friends and roommates were loud and obnoxious and stayed up all hours of the night playing loud music and probably doing anything but studying, but because she was better than her, in every sense of the word. sight reading music without missing a beat or a note, shredding her guitar in nearly every practice room, leaving most professors in awe of her vocal range, and not to mention the writings of hers read during some of the english classes the two shared. it was jealousy at its finest. though whenever an unexpected turn of events leaves hazel almost having no choice but to be vulnerable, something else besides avoiding her dorm neighbor might turn into something else. ~ TW for gun violence, ptsd, anxiety, depression, etc...

"This is the hall bathroom," I motioned as we passed, "and this is the bedroom." "Bedroom?" Cadence clarified. "Just one? But you said I'd be staying here." I turned to see her blushing again, and had the urge to place my hand on her cheek to see if it was as warm as it looked. I didn't. "I still have to make sure you don't try anything," I explained. "You'll be staying in here. Don't worry-- it's a king sized bed." "And," Cadence began, looking anywhere but me as she took in the room, "what else does making sure I don't try anything entail?" I couldn't tell if she was trying to provoke me or not, but either way, I had made up my mind the second I determined she would stay with me exactly how keeping her here would go. "Well for starters," I told her seriously, "I'm going to need you to strip." --- Cadence Maurice wanted nothing more in the world than to have the engagement trip of her life with her fiancé, Isaiah in the beautiful city of Moscow.
