11-year old Shäla lives in the city of Nalacar, which is right outside of the Forest of shadows. The Forest of Shadows is one of the ten Forests of Myth, home to the mythical creatures of the world, created from old magic to protect them from people that hunt them. Each forest has a Watcher, someone who protects and keeps the peace in the forest. The Forest of Shadows has not had a Watcher for years, for they normally get killed in the first week, for the Forest of Shadows is the most dangerous of the ten, holding demons, witches and monster of the dark. In a dare, Shäla goes into the forest and it changes her life forever, getting taken by the Council of Watchers and chosen as the Watcher of the Forest of Shadows, she's on a quest to "befriend" the creatures of the forest, meeting new creatures and changing her view of the world completely, while trying to stay alive.

The Forest
