When I was 15 (a week before my 16th Birthday) I was diagnosed with Cancer. Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I was Stage 4, which was the worst stage to have and treatment was urgent.
I went through Chemotherapy and a Stem Cell Transplant during 2002-2003. It's now been 10 years and I'm still suffering a few side effects of the treatment. I had Chemotherapy injected up my spine and into my brain, as part of my treatment, so what I wrote isn't exactly well written. I was exhausted, sick, and mentally drained, but these are the sort of poetry story of what I was going through.
These poems were written during my treatment. They might not be great poetry, but they expressed what I felt and what I was going through at the time.
I will eventually be posting my autobiographical account of my treatment here, on Wattpad once it's been edited. At the moment though, I'm waiting on some medical tests to come back, so I can put more of an ending together on how everything is going.
I hope you enjoy what you read and that even if it doesn't help you, there might be someone out there that willbenefit from what I've experienced. Teenagers with cancer don't get a lot of information that is solely directed to them, so that's my aim.
Enjoy!
