Five years after Anankos's War, Nohr is on the brink of financial ruin and political destabilization - Xander's new farming policies are not going over well with the public, and the unrest only grows as a nameless faction of dissidents begins growing in power and influence. Between that and the war with the moorland Earth Tribe, King Xander is quickly running out of resources, mercy, and patience.
  
  But the tables turn when he finally pins down General Katonah, princess of the Earth Tribe and leader of an arm of Laird Tormod's army. He uses Katonah to quell the Earth Tribe's rebellion, but quickly realizes that there is something special about the timid, soft-spoken princess.
