"Describe April. What is she like?" "Describing her is like trying to understand the your purpose in life, you know. I never could really tell anyone how she was because I couldn't technically believe she was real. April James is anything most have never seen." The therapist turned his attention to the next man dressed in khaki pants and a button down plaid shirt, nodding for him to begin. "Well, April is definitely a piece of work- I mean she's beautiful and that goes without saying. The first thing that caught my eye about her was her laugh. Anyone who is around her becomes almost bewitched by her and it's beyond their control. To describe her in a word, I'd choose, captivating." Her brother eyes everyone, keeping the same defensive stance he has had the entire session. Without waiting to be directed, he speaks as his voice floods the room. "Princess is my baby sister and I'm only going to say this once watch how you talk about her. That's family and nothing comes between that. Nothing!" His stare silences, even the thoughts of anyone in the room. The rest of the people seated in an array of their finery begin to fidget in their chairs, becoming increasingly uncomfortable. And in the far corner, April sits, never uttering a word, possibly unaware of nothing going on around her. The sky darkens, filling with gray rolling clouds as the April showers begin the season.

"The moon's really beautiful, if you think about it," I blurted. "Yeah?" he asked, mild amusement and curiosity mingling in his voice. "Yeah," I confirmed. "It's just- there's something about the moon that's ethereal. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's a constant in life. You can't always see it, but you have to trust that it's out there somewhere. And when you can see it, it's all bright and shiny and overcomes the darkness." I paused, searching for the right words. "I don't know. I guess it's a reminder that there are good things out there, even if you can't see them... And it's cool to think that someone hundreds of miles away is staring at the exact same moon as you. It makes me feel not so alone in life." Turning my head, I saw him staring at me intently with a thoughtful look on his face. "Too deep for a Friday night?" I laughed nervously, feeling my face grow hot. And this was precisely why I didn't go to parties. He shook his head and seemed to snap out of his daze. "It was deep in a good way." *** SHE was quiet & left out.
