There are direct references in this story not only to SAO, but also others like DBZ for example. Regarding a specific tag that doesn't SEEM to belong there, he makes an appearance as an actual character, but as a side character later in the story. Regarding another tag, an attack from that series is performed in the prologue. Other attacks will be performed in Alicization with the exception of one specific technique that is seen every now and then. Regarding ANOTHER tag, TWO of the characters eventually learn a type of magic, MK Light being one of them. His eyes are also a direct reference to the (fake) final boss of a certain path in this game. Regarding one last tag, MK Light pulls THAT stunt due to his will to live. (I put another tag lol) Regarding that one tag, one of the games from that series has quite a significant influence on MK Light's weapons in GGO.
