The woods that resided behind Red Forest boarding school were always alluring, yet always feared. No one dared to trek through the foggy plethora of bark and leaves. It was a no-man zone.

Clarke was new to Red Forest, her high grades allowing her to attend the elite school for the rich and intelligent. She was responsible, a genius, and an observer. And more than anything, she was very curious.
She'd heard myths and legends about the 'forbidden red-tree forest' from the students. The stories kept everyone a safe distance from these woods.

She found out why they all kept their distance soon enough. But her memory of the exploration was foggy. The only thing she could remember from that night were the sounds of the leaves crunching behind her, and the riveting pain in her calf.
