"Flames licked at the moonlit sky, heavy clouds of black smoke obscured the stars and quenched the hope of the people below, the moon hung its head in shame at the sight underneath its dim glow. The smell of smoke and burning skin filled the night, a pungent smell of decay accompanying it. Screams erupted as the ghouls and zombies sunk their teeth into flesh and ripped their way to the bone, tearing apart their victims. Cries of infants chorused in the air, sobbing for their mothers and fathers, the panicked yells of the men as they tried to fight off the beasts that gripped them, all assisting the symphony of chaos as the only world they knew came crashing down around them.

They would pay, they would all pay, it was time to collect their debts. It was time to make them suffer just as they made me."

Death, destruction, chaos,
The things she caused the most,
Betrayal, treachery, fakery,
The things she did the most,
Hatred, detest, disdain,
The things she felt the most,
Madness, insanity, psychopathy,
The things people claimed her to be,
Dead, gone, forgotten,
Only two of those things are true,

She's dead, she's gone, but she will never be forgotten.

BROKEN COURAGE (Lucas & Emilia Book 3) de ArianaClarkAuthor
73 partes Concluida Contenido adulto
While tortured and held captive as a prisoner of war, she became my reason to keep breathing. The force that fueled my will to fight. To survive. When I woke after the rescue to discover the life I thought I was coming home to was but a figment of my imagination, hallucinations brought about by pain, desperation, and isolation... it nearly broke me. Fifteen years since I first lost her, at last, we have a second chance. Holding her in my arms, finally feeling the warmth of her skin as she melts under my touch, is like a dream. She and her two little girls are now as essential to my existence as the air I breathe. However, just as things start falling into place, the universe steps in, threatening to take it all away. I used to think that choosing her cost me everything I'd ever loved, but now I see that in choosing her and her children, I have the chance to reclaim all that I lost. They are my salvation. My true path to redemption. Which is why I'll leave no stone unturned, why I will scorch this world to the ground if that's what it takes to save them. And when I do, I will fight to convince her once and for all they are meant to be mine, just as I was destined to be theirs. In the Broken Redemption Series, one man's vow to protect the woman he lost becomes a battle between redemption, forgiveness, and the kind of love that refuses to let go. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is Book 3 of Lucas & Emilia's Broken Redemption arc, the emotional conclusion to their story. For the full journey, start with Book 1: Broken Vows.

The powerful have bottled it, priced it, and called it holy. Every flicker, every breath, must be paid for in Lumen. Lucy Farrow was born in the Gloom, where the air tastes of rust and hope is a dangerous thing. Her mother taught her to keep her glow low - to survive unseen. But when the light inside her begins to stir, Lucy's secret could unravel the order that keeps their divided city alive. High above, in the marble halls of the Halo, Prince Cassian Soleyne uncovers a secret among ink and dust - a forbidden lineage that could unmake the order he was born to protect. His duty is to snuff it out: his heart tells him to save it. As rebellion brews in the dark and doubt kindles in the light, their paths will cross - and together they will awaken a fire long thought dead. A Radiant who could bring back the dawn... or burn the world to ash. ⸻ ✧ ⸻ His guest merely nodded sharply. "Until next time, mister Briar". With that, he turned and marched toward the door - his colleagues followed him close behind. Lucy could hear their footsteps fade away and relief washed over her. As soon as it did, the lanterns of the chandelier rattled softly - the Lumen danced for a split second, as if celebrating. But that was enough. The agents abruptly turned around, having seen the shadows on the floor - slowly, they aimed their emotionless gazes skyward, staring at the chandelier. "Tell me, mister Briar", the captain spoke, his eyes still fixated upon the lamps, "Does your Lumen always malfunction like this?" The Lantern Man tapped with a finger on the desk. "As a matter of fact, sir - yes, it does. It's still an old batch: it flickers all the time. I ought to get it replaced soon".

Alive With The Dead

31 partes Concluida

The world didn't end all at once-it unraveled slowly. Quietly. While no one was looking. Neve, a introverted 17 year old, was always good at noticing things. The way her neighbors' pets started vanishing. The way the news anchors stumbled over their words. The way her school suddenly cared about checking students for "fevers" but never offered explanations. Still grieving her mother and lost in the silence of her own home, Neve watches as the world slips further from normal-until the night the power goes out. Until the night she sees a man, gaunt and bloodied, standing in her backyard. Watching her. After that, everything falls apart. As cities burn and the dead walk the streets, Neve is forced from the quiet life she knew into a fractured world ruled by survival, instinct, and impossible questions. Who can be trusted? What do the revenants-the "turned"-still remember? And how much of yourself can you lose before you're no longer human? Alongside Jace, a guarded 19 year old, a boy with his own shadows, Neve walks a path littered with broken people, fading memories, and echoes of a past that refuses to stay buried. Her journal becomes a guide, her sketches a record of what the world used to be-and what might still be worth saving.. She meets people. She loses them. She learns to trust, and she learns to grieve. But most importantly-she survives.
