This isn't a pretty story. In fact, if it doesn't leave you with a small chill crawling up your spine, then somethings up. Blood is spilled, and minds are lost. Nothing is innocent anymore. Mermaids are no longer beautiful and sweet. They are vicious, evil, and hungry for flesh and blood. Your flesh and blood.

When smugglers catch an unspeaking maiden in their fishing nets, there is no reasonable way to know how she ended up in the middle of the ocean or what to do with her. When a lady pirate is saved from drowning, she is left with a lungful of saltwater and a debt to her unlikely saviour. When a cruel man holds sea monsters captive, the truth is unbelievable. There are no logical explanations. But Sirens cannot be explained. (Short story)
