She awakens in the grip of fear. There is a noisy rush of air. Without even a glance, she darts forward, then tucks and bounds back and to the left. She is a mouse in the open. The hawk's wing brushes by, mussing her long hair. His claw reaches out, missing her by millimeters as he lands. She breaks full speed for a log she sees. The raptor's eyes follow his meal through the dry grass. He pivots on his strong claws. His great wings are ungainly on the ground. He tucks them in and hops at his prey. Anticipating this, she stays low and hops back, making him again overshoot. The bird is between her and safety. He's every bit as fast as she is.
mouse has no memory of who she is, not even a name, or where this is, or when this is, but she is multi-lingual and has uncanny scientific knowledge, especially predator studies. 'I am extraordinary, for a mouse...'

Someday - A Short Story
Life was dull, boring, and mechanical. I’ve always wondered if this would change. If something interesting will happen. I always hoped something interesting will happen. A falling meteor that would destroy half of town, an alien invasion, or even the Apocalypse. Anything, just to relieve me of this monotonous life I lead. “Urgh,” I groaned as I reached over to turn off the alarm clock that sounded like a hundred sirens in the early hours of dawn. The golden sun hasn’t come out to expel the surrounding darkness yet. I figured it would take an hour more or so for the sun to show its shining face, so I decided to eat breakfast and take a bath first. But little did I know that today was the day that my life would change. It was the day I met her. ---------- A short story. Hey guys! This is my first try writing a pure romance story. I hope you'll like it. :D This story will be rarely updated, since I'm busy with school and stuff. In The Eyes Of Fate Series (Book One) "Don't even think about it." I stood frozen in place as he said those words from behind me, which sent shivers down my spine. The rain started running down my face as I started thinking of a way out of here. My body trembled in fear knowing that he could easily hurt me. I'm not strong against someone like him Thoughts raced through my mind as I tried to think of a way to get away from him. But there was nothing but endless trees around me. I blinked away the water running into my eyes due to the rain. My thoughts were disturbed when he suddenly spun me around to face him, his face just inches away from mine. "P-Please don't hurt m-me." I stuttered out. I tried to sound brave and not let my fear show, but my mouth betrayed me. His golden red eyes flickered with a hint of pain for a moment then back to a cold stare, "I'd never hurt you, never put you in harm's way and I'm never letting him take you from me, you're mine." He said in a deep low voice, almost a growl, and his eyes seemed to have gotten darker. 'What the hell is that supposed to mean?!' I tried taking a step back but his grip on my arm tightened. It hurt. "L-let me go, you, you're hurting me!" I looked up at him scared, his eyes were now completely dark, and the next thing I noticed were pointed teeth poking out from his lips. I screamed and pushed at him but he didn't budge. I then raised my knee and kneed him between the legs with all my force, and he dropped like a rock, holding his groin. Run. I took my chance. And ran. ~~~ Nora Brown, a normal adult, living a normal life. Moving away from home to start fresh and meet new people. Just going where life takes her. "Then at least free me of them." "No." A love so vicious it binds. A madness so deep it consumes. Escape is an illusion, and freedom... a cruel dream. For in his arms lies ruin... and in hers, salvation. ***** Celestine didn't know what love was until she crossed paths with her childhood crush, the stories of their childhood took them to their past and they started spending time with each other. She started finding her muse in his presence and he started giving her everything she ever desired. A loving night between them suddenly turned into a gruesome one for her when she found the dead body of her lover in the apartment they rented on their anniversary. Zagreus didn't know what jealousy was until he saw the love of his life finding solace in the arms of a man he loathed with his guts. Admiring and keeping her safe from his world, he decided to not interfere in her life and started protecting her from a distance. Until one day he found that the woman who was supposed to be his was dating his enemy behind his back. Love and care were replaced by raw anger and ravenous rage and he did what he thought he should have done initially. He claimed her. For hi,m love was a fire that scorches his heart, but madness, it was a damn poison that devoured him from the inside.

Carter had been watching everything. He watched as his brother leaped at the Panther to protect him. He had watched as the anger had burnt out Max, and he had gotten control over the blade. He watched as his brother had been nearly killed by the monster. But he could do nothing but watch as the dark figure jumped at Carter. But he didn't kill him as Carter had first suspected. Instead he transformed mid-air and grabbed the bird before it took flight. And Brandon appeared behind him when Max and Carter landed on the ground. "Carter! Shift. He just wants answers and help. You have to shift." What Brandon said let Max get up and release the large bird. Carter didn't waste a second. He jumped up and flew away from Max, shifting into an Owl in air. Max watched as the shifting figure stuck its feet ahead of him. When he landed Carter was at the weapons rack, and pulling a red bow from the wall. "Where's the Lioness?" Carter said, as he turned around. "Right here," and Carter followed the sound to find a girl with waist length hair and red eyes. She sat on one of the electronic tables, and was hard to see, even with Carter's increased night vision. Without another word, he tossed her the bow and watched as she caught it. He watched as she hopped off the table and quietly walked around him and the scientists. He noticed a brooding figure approach Brandon out of the corner of his eye. "Okay, what would you like to know?" He said, acting like he was in charge. But Max smiled and replied. "Not here." GUYS! This has not been edited at all, so it is super choppy. She screamed in earnest as a hand took hold of her arm, and then even more when her own hand reached for something to hang onto and grasped at empty air. She had been scrambling towards a sudden drop! The hands hauled her back, but she still struggled. She didn't want to look at it, and she still wasn't sure she wouldn't rather take her chances with the open air instead. "Stop it, I'm not going to hurt you! You'll hit your head on the rock or something. Wren, please!" It knew her name. Somehow it knew her. She was going to die! "Let me go! Stop touching me!" She was sitting on the rocky floor now with her back against an uneven wall, and it was trying to pin her down and hold her still. She kept her eyes turned away and struggled helplessly, but it was no use. It was strong like a human man too, and she couldn't keep it off of her. The wings had moved until they curved around them both and shut out a lot of the light. Its face was so near hers that she could feel its breath brushing against her skin. "Please just look at me for a second. Just look. I'm not going to hurt you." One of the hands grabbed her chin and forced her head to turn, and then she was looking straight into a pair of dark brown eyes. It had a human face too. She had been expecting something monstrous or ghastly, and the surprise made her falter for a moment. He looked young, with a bad haircut and an earnest expression on his face. "I'll let go of you, okay? Just don't lunge around like that anymore, you'll get hurt." He whispered.Complete
