Egress
1. The action of going out or a way to get out of a place.

In a world where everyone has some magic, doors have become a magical transportation method. The simple action of stepping through a doorway can move people across the world. Because of this, people escape their everyday life by building their homes in wild or impractical places and commuting to work by walking through the door. Due to a magical disaster, the spell on the doors malfunction so that the doors open out to whatever is really on the other side, instead of wherever people want to go. This has a devastating effect as people discover the places they have chosen to live are not as nice as they thought they were.
