A Divergent no war story taking place during stage two of initiation. Tris worries about making Dauntless and learns to adapt to the new changes in her life. She faces many challenges and obstacles that push her to her breaking point and emotionally break her down. But when Tris's curiosity about her Dauntless Instructor; the legendary Four gets the best of her she begins to see a different side in him that no one else sees. But what Tris doesn't know is that Four is also beginning to feel something for her. As they begin to grow closer they learn to live a life with each other, a different life then they both thought. A life with friends, with happiness, with hope, with love, with challenges, with hurt. A life with each other.

Tris Pedrad has two brothers. Zeke, who is two years older and Uriah, her twin. Of course they both are the annoying, protective older brother type. Her mom, Hana, is a single parent. She loves all he children but always tells Tris to not listen to her brothers. She wants her daughter to be independent and brave. Her dad, Evan, died when she was little in a train accident. Ever since then Zeke always tries to be the father figure that they don't have anymore. Tris meets Four when she's Fourteen. Zeke brings him over after their introductions were over. Beatrice just wants her life to be normal but some people prevent that from happening. Beatrice will learn that life can't be perfect and she has to accept that there will always be problems. Beatrice and Tobias fight the obstacles that come their way together. To maintain stability, the faction leaders decide to return to the faction system. Because of this, the sixteen-year-olds that chose that year are sent back to their former factions for nine months. Tris falls into a state of depression after the war and her impromptu breakup that occurred at the end of it, and returning back to Abnegation--to the same house as her traitor brother--doesn't help. Tobias remains in Dauntless, but while he isn't exactly despondent, he does feel out of place. He doesn't fit in and cannot go on with normal life after everything that happened. Then, Choosing Day arrives. And history definitely does not repeat itself when Tris goes through the initiation process with her old friends and enemies, her ex-boyfriend, and the new sixteen-year-olds, while citizens of Chicago are mysteriously dying.
