The prince begged for forgiveness, but it was too late - for she could see there was no love in his heart. The enchantress cursed the prince, transforming him into a hideous beast - and if he was unable to learn to love another, and earn their love in return by the time the last petal from the rose she offered had fallen, he would remain a beast forever.
