It's been 2 years since he lost his partner and younger brother Jackson, who was murdered by a man named Zach Wilson, a man they arrested for sex trafficking, but could never the man who murdered Jackson since, and there was no one to testify. Joseph has always had his anger to thrive on when it came to surviving, never had a partner, until she walked in. 
Emery Sahied, a 25 year old Detective who was from Brooklyn who had something in common with her new partner, she also lost someone she loves to the hands of the same man.
