Natsu and Lucy went out on a job together. They had been gone for so long, but that's just how some jobs are, some take days, some months, some even takes years to complete. 
"I need your help," Natsu, out of all people, pleaded for assistance in a difficult job he and Lucy could no longer complete on their own. 
How could a simple looking job turn their lively guildmate into a man filled with guilt and desperation?
