Written in April of 2016, this is the first poem I ever wrote. I asked my friend to give me a one word theme that I would base it around and she responded with "homosexuality". It centers on the troubles and turmoil of a young same-sex couple (both physically and mentally) as they face prejudice from both the church and society around them.
It took me around an hour to complete and remains the longest poem I have ever written. It also holds special sentiment to me as it was this poem that showed me just how valuable poetry was to me as an outlet to express myself and my emotions.

"I curse you." A mewled whisper erupted her throat steadily raising her shaken up gaze. The man who had her jaw held in a terrific grip gave her a twisted smile having no effect from her words. It was just a joke. I wanted to give her one last 'fuck you' before she got married to the guy I always wanted. I laughed. "Rain you playing right? She talking about a strap right?" Ricki said as she sat down in the lazy boy. I shrugged as Mila turned around and laid her back against my chest. "No that nigga got a real dick. I told you I felt something when I was sitting on her lap the other night," Traci said as she sat on the coffee table. "I wanna see it before I give up a grand," Heaven said and sat on Ricki's lap. I swear they been fucking around since we were little. It didn't bother me cause they weren't blood related. "No y'all nasty ass, pervert dumbasses," I said. "Come on Rain we family. We use to take baths together," Ricki said. "Yeah when we were like toddlers," I said as Mila ass moved against me. I used to think there'd be no living without you. Then, you walked away. Like it was the easiest thing in the world. We finally stopped making sense to you. So, you left. Why wouldn't you. It didn't matter that it still made sense to me. That I still held on to all those what ifs and unanswered questions of us. Still hoped for things to work out somehow. Still needed things to work out. Needed it like food and water. This story might not make much sense to you, reader. It was written for him. And in many ways for myself.
