Many years before the events of Twilight Princess a raider king known as Ganondorf plundered the noble land of Hyrule. However the first part of this story explains the reasons behind Ganon's attacks on the not so innocent Hyrulian people. The second part will eventually lead into a Midlink fanfic.

The Hylian-Gerudo War by Hyrule_Historian

The Gerudo race; humiliated by the Hylians prior to the end of the great Unification War, their King embarks on a journey to Hyrule to once again swear fealty to the Hylian crown. They embark on a great mission, a journey across the land of Hyrule to take back what should've been theirs. Join her as she manages to survive through a harsh battle when all the odds are against her. (This will contain numerous Zelda theory, and shall be very detailed. If you wanted to find a story on what it was like during the Hylian-Gerudo civil war, then you have come to the right book. And I intend on writing more.)

The new King plots against her so he can have the kingdom and the Triforce for himself but Zelda has many friends in Hyrule. She must leave Hyrule Castle, her home, with no one but a knight at her side. She leaves with a promise, a promise to return some day, an army at her side and retake her kingdom, liberating her subjects from the King's tyranny. This is a Zelink story but I doubt it will be as good as my first Zelink story, 'A Princess Problem' but let's give it a try. He can't focus on the past too much though, because an incredible threat has woken up, and will certainly destroy Hyrule if nothing is done soon. In modern day Hyrule, Link is an orphan who lives in an orphanage. Because he is meant to be the Hero of Hyrule, his bunkmates get jealous and bully him for it. The two become inseparable, but everything changes when Zelda hits puberty; she vanishes and doesn't show up at school. Link tries to contact and find her, but no luck. Five years later, Link is a 16-year-old man with severe depression and a Hero chosen by the Master Rifle. He is still in love with Zelda and thinks about her every second of his life. One day, Link saves a woman from the Yiga clan members, and that woman turns out to be Zelda. She tells him about where she has been for the past five years, and once Link finds out the truth, he dedicates his days to helping Zelda feel safe and happy again away from her selfish, rich father Rhoam and her forced fiance, Ganondorf. While Link and Zelda try to save themselves from the abuse, an evil prince from another country declares war on Hyrule in hopes of annexing the kingdom, and Link must go to war, leaving Zelda.
