Falling In Love With Trouble Itself

"I'm not going to let anything happen to you." he whispered to me. "That`s just it! You'll die trying. I need to do this on my own! You can`t fight all of my battles or me!" I almost yelled. The moon glinted off of his cheeks. "Are you crying?" i asked astonished. Dalton never cried. He smiled without humor. "I guess i am." he whispered, he wiped the tears from his cheeks idly. "Dalton." i sighed, i was crying now too. Dalton`s hands wrapped around my waist. I buried my chest in his leather jacket, inhaling it`s scent. The sweet smell of peppermint was still there. "I love you." he whispered in my ear. My mouth hung open, luckily he couldn't see it. "What?" i asked astonished. He smiled, pulling away, but keeping me at arms length. "I said, i love you." he smiled. I smiled brightly at i`m, but then i was reminded of the reason i came. "Dalton i love you too, but it doesn't change anything. I`m just going to get you in trouble with you and your friends. I don't want to drive a wedge between you. If there threatening my mom, Phil, i cant, i cant put my family in danger. I just cant." i murmured, looking away from his blazing eyes. I felt his warm lips press firmly to my forehead before His hands dropped from my neck and he turned slowly. I watched him walk to the car and put the key in the ignition, and drive away.
