Brenda McCoy was a young impressionable college girl who was eager to do something on her own. The military culture that surrounded Brenda was so rich and influential that unthinkably she enlists into the United States Army. Immediately, she is shipped off to Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Will she be able to get through the initial army training?
The minute Brenda stepped foot off the bus on the grassy courtyard of 369th Delta Company Infantry Regiment, she realized she may have been in over her head. Yet and still, Private McCoy rose from her bunk and assembled into formation before sunrise ready to learn the warrior tasks and drills every day. She already knew she was courageous, but if she plans on getting through training, she'll have to choose her battles wisely.

You have to calm down," a voice sounded from a distance. It was too late; I was in full panic attack mode. My body shook as I sobbed in gasps. I felt hands on my arms but barely. I was too far-gone. The black dots increased as my breathing did. I'd done this too many times to know what was coming next. I hyperventilated until I passed out completely. ~ After a traumatic event that led to her family's death, Iris moves with her Aunt to California to try and start over.
