When Raine and her supernatural secret-love receive a letter in the mail requesting their participation in a strange new case, they can't help but accept. But once they arrive at the once magnificent, crumbling estate, things start to get weird. After finding that they have plenty of competition, the team prepares for the worst.
Yet nothing can prepare them for the surprise of all the servants being gone and even the mansion's owner being missing the morning they awake from their first night there. The biggest surprise is that when somebody tries to leave, they discover that all their exit routes are blocked off...Their all trapped!

This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried.
