In the late 18th century, in a town known as Polperro, a family known as the Pembrookes flourished - being one of the most influential bourgeois family there. But they weren't the only ones, which often meant trouble. However, this story isnt just based on the family in general - this is based particularly on one. Robert and Sophia Pembrooke had 3 children - the oldest was called Joseph, the youngest called Nathaniel - and in the middle was Adaline Pembrooke. She was known as the beauty of the family, being young, slender with soft green eyes. And her life has been simple - but no one could have imagined the events that took place.
