Just a story I've been creating for some years or so, I just wanted to start writing it, you know just to plasm the idea. If you're reading this, enjoy, it's a complicated idea and universe so I'm sorry if I couldn't imply the idea. A.k.a. i based myself a lot on the mexican myth of alebrijes

Imaginary friends... Did you got one when you were young? Yes? Do you still believe in them? Or you just let yourself follow the mature ideals of it being just 'imaginary', a result of your imperative imagination. If that's so, congratulations, you have a shadow in your back messing with your emotions, be careful.
There's a lot more into them you know? Imaginary friends... what if they mere more than just a product of imagination, what if it they were an ancient magical race that were destined to be connected to humans.
