The colors appeared in the night.

It had been happening to the human race for as long as I could remember.
My father had said that we were not like this once, that we were clean, perfectly bonded; perfectly ordinary.

There was a time in which the human race could hide their emotions up their sleeves, and no one had to brave the world knowing that their secrets were just unspoken truths that couldn't be hidden. In today's world, we would be the aliens of the past.

He was different though. With a whole head of dark midnight blue, so perfectly blended with the night sky that it was borderline black. It brought out the color of his eyes, a shade of light evergreen that dulled the forests that ran across the borders of our land.

Me myself, I was a collection of reds, colors of the sunset and of the dawn in which I was named after.

While I was warm, he was cool. I was red, and he was blue. The lilac sky that touched the heavens as our fates collided was enough proof that we would clash and meet.

But while everything was a bright burning hue, perhaps purple just wasn't for him after all.
