Ice pirates...supernatural killer wolves....a country locked in ice. 

Stranded in the backwards, superstitious city of Snowblitzki, Miss Damaris Evans is fleeing an arranged marriage when she books passage on the ice boat Bera. Little does she know that it's a ship of secrets. From the good-natured young Captain Cameron Hawk to the inept - and impossibly handsome - cabin boy Axel, no one on the Bera is what they seem.  
    
    A staunch believer in the transformative power of science and steam, Mari is skeptical of the old ways and the powerful magic of the Snow Sorceress that is accepted as common knowledge in this part of the world.  While war tears the surrounding world apart, and the evil General-Consul Koschei is said to be unleashing an army of supernatural wolf warriors on the resistance in the mountain towns, Mari begins to see first hand the perils of war and repression.
    
    When her voyage home takes an unexpected turn, Mari must choose between her head and her heart, save Axel from the clutches of the Snow Sorceress, and defy the terrifying commander, General-Consul Koschei.
