Each kid there starts their own journey to become a hero, training for their chosen class, some get their class from what their parents were, some from what they're best at. I grew up in a world where dragon riders were revered for not only their bravery and looks, but also for their intelligence. Children would spend days on end studying just in the hopes that they would get accepted to the Rider School, and those who did get accepted left their homes like kings, followed with respect and well wishes. It had been years since a dragon rider had been accepted in the Rider School from my town, which was understandable since we boasted a population of only 100 kids in the acceptable age range. Every year we were visited by the Counselor, the man who decided who would be accepted, and every year at that time our town lit up. Festivities lasted the Counselor's whole stay, with competitions to test children's intelligence, stamina, strength, and looks set up to look like games. Every year my brothers and I would be disappointed by our results, until my 15th year, when everything changed.... Soon after Tia, a sixteen year old girl , got a very special gift for her birthday , she gets a silver pen and notepad from her grandfather. Saying that the ink and paper never runs out. In a land long forgotten is a valley. All manner of creatures lived in peace among the rocky greenery. Or as peaceful as possible. Villages consider the land sacred. Every year the sixteen year old children pour in one side, only a few make it out the other. The week long track kills off most of them. Parents beg their young to remain home but most still go in thinking the risk far less than the reward. Familiars, that's why they pour in and rush out. Only Warriors may enter. None are certain how it happens but within a week of return, an animal becomes the survivers familiar. In some cases even a whole herd or even a couple different animals will follow the warrior. Diana should have been a lady, but her soul was never ment for house work. Follow her as she fights for rank and unknowingly falls in love.

Even when growing up, Elia didn't fit in with the other girls. They would dress up in dresses. She wore cloaks. They would cook and sew. She would throw knives. They liked boys. She liked bows. Elia was a bit of an outcast to her village, with her striking dark brown hair that was always kept back in a fishtail plait, and her light blue/green eyes that seemed to change colour in the light. The moment that dragon rider sets foot on the ground of your village, the emblem of that academy is hung from the flag and any new dragon riders in their village are the new students for the academy. Each village has 4 new dragon riders, this is the way it has been for years. Male or female they are claimed and tested to find the four riders a week after. The challenge for the dragon riders in the Week of Xanithar is to claim as many strong blooded villages as possible. And now it's her turn.
