Prologue:
My name is Karoline Duchanes, although my friends call me Kay. I live in SweetWater, Wyoming; a small town that isn't mentioned on most maps. I have untamable red hair and green eyes that seem to glow against my pale skin. I turned 15 not too long ago before school started. I go to North Valley High School, the only high school in SweetWater. Usually on school days after school I spend most of my time with my friends, Christian and Chloe, in our tree house in the woods. Christian and Chloe are brother and sister, both with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. They're pretty much my only friends because I grew up with them, and because I'm so shy and squeamish around people I'm not familiar with. It wasn't always like this though. I used to have a pretty mundane existence, happy to just get good grades and be around my friends. God I wish I could get that simplicity back, I'd never complain it was boring again. But I know I'm not going to ever get back my old life because well... I died. (Kinda) But I woke up.
