Detective first grade? That's child's play. Try detective fourth grade! That's Niecey Lawson, the best nine-year old private investigator in El Paso, Texas. With her father, retired San Francisco Police Captain, Dennis Lawson, they've formed the unstoppable D&D Investigations. Niecey attends Santa Maria Academy where she's a spelling bee queen and a gymnast extraordinaire. She and her BFF Mimi discover a dreamy young boy from across the border in Mexico hiding on campus. They quickly become involved in a heart-pounding adventure to reunite him with his mother. They are sworn to secrecy as they uncover a nefarious (one of Niecey's favorite words) web of international smuggling and sweatshops. Despite their formidable skills, the kids are soon in over their heads. They call the authorities, but D&D Investigations has to ride to the rescue, literally, when the takedown goes awry.
While adept at solving crimes and inspiring her friends to overcome their fears, Niecey struggles with her own personal demons when she encounters a bully.
The mission provides a true test for the young private eye and her cohorts from which they emerge stronger and wiser.
